Welcome to Eart10! This web page and associated links are under construction throughout the quarter. Check back for information and updates on assignments, preparation for tests, suggestions for class projects, etc.

Please be sure to attend discussion section during the first week of class! During this section, we will hand out a math evaluation exercise, which will help you figure out how to use a scientific calculator, and to see whether you may need some extra help with the math part of the homework exercise. Find out when and where these sections meet by looking at the table of options on the Eart10 syllabus.

Please note: the discussion section is part of the regular Eart10 class. Everyone MUST attend discussion section each week, attendance will be part of your grade and it will be MUCH easier to complete the homework assignments with help from your discussion section TA.

The Eart10L, Earth Principles Lab, is a separate one-credit course. Many students have found in the past that taking Eart10L helps with Eart10, but the lab is not required. However, Eart10L is required (or Eart5L or Eart20L) for Earth and Planetary Sciences majors and minors. Please see the Eart10L syllabus and ask Andy or one of the TAs if you have questions about Eart10L.

NOTE: We will follow UCSC guidelines and return all assignments and tests to you individually, in person, but this may result in a delay in some cases. If you would like to have your assignments and tests left in a public area (one of the wooden boxes on the wall outside of D226 - the section and lab room) for you to pick up, please be sure to circulate and sign a permission statement in discussion section. Your TA can explain how to do this. Having your assignments returned to the box should be faster than waiting to see your TA in section to get your papers back.
