About the UCSC Hydrogeology Group

UCSC Hydrogeology personnel and their collaborators and partners explore topics such as:

  • Hydrogeology and thermal evolution of oceanic crust, including ridge flanks, seamounts, and convergent margins
  • Groundwater recharge, managed recharge, and associated incentives and tools
  • Numerical simulation of coupled flows (fluid-heat-solutes)
  • Hydrothermal circulation on ocean worlds
  • Water resources: supplies and quality
  • Development and testing of new tools and methods

NB: This website was launched in Spring 2025, in response to a requirement that we standardize both webhosting and display formats. The UCSC Hydrogeology website was formerly hosted on the Hydrogeology Linux network (based on a design coded in HTML in the early 2010s). It was time for a change, and the new site should prove to be more reliable than the last, but the transition has been challenging. Much of the new site, created using WordPress, is up and active, but we have some pages with historical photos (classes, group) and some research study “digital appendices” that remain to be set up and linked. Please reach out if you think something should be here that is missing.
