'Assumed' values are from Eggins et al. (1997)except Ni in basalts which are from Kelley et al. (2003) and AGV2 which are from the USGS website.ey et al. (2003), and AGV2
Italics indicate values that differ from the USGS recommended values by more than 5%.
Calculated' are values obtained when run as unknowns

*

External error (four different solutions, one drift correction, same calibration,).UCSC in-house
basalt standard. Mean concentration for four different dissolutions analyzed over about one hour
without normalization to a drift monitor. The ± value is two standard deviations on the final digit.
The % column is that value divided by the mean. This reflects maximum error from all sources.

**

External error (one solution, double drift correction, Mean concentration (n= 33) for one
solution during one analytical session lasting about four hours (one tune and calibration) but
without correction for drift in tuning during the session. The ± value is two standard deviations on
the final digit. The % column is that value divided by the mean.

***

External error (one solution, two drift corrections, two calibrations). The percent difference
between two analyses of the same solution during different analytical (different tunings and
calibrations). Results were first normalized at a common value for Ar8 to reduce errors related to
drift in tuning.
