| About me: I am from a little town called Farmington located in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. The Finger Lakes are one of the most beautiful places in the world, if you've never been there that's okay - we don't want the secret getting out. Currently, I am a Graduate Student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I study coastal processes and am eventually working my way towards a PhD in the Earth and Planetary Sciences. I like the multifaceted nature of coastal geology, it provides a great opportunity to study science in conjunction with public policy, engineering and environmental management. The field work locations are not to shabby either. I used to travel a lot but now I am enjoying a more settled life in California for a while. I still like a good road trip any day of the week - especially if it involves driving on the 1. In my free time I enjoy being an active participant in community events. If there is a free local concert, hike, talk or festival of any sort you can probably find me there. I tend to be an early riser, not to say that I never sleep in, but it really is the most satisfying part of the day. I don't think enough people polka in this world. I also think that life is too short to underuse superlatives in everyday conversation. Other things that float my boat? Geology of any sort, being by the water, frisbee, sewing, sailing, reading, hiking and local history. Above all I enjoy a good project, regardless of type or duration. |
